BastionZero Recognized for Innovative Cryptographic Approach to Zero-Trust Infrastructure Access
BOSTON – May 3, 2022 – BastionZero Inc., the zero-trust infrastructure access company, has been named one of 10 finalists for the RSA Conference 2022 Innovation Sandbox Contest for its work providing engineering teams with remote access to their production infrastructure. On Monday, June 6 BastionZero will present its technology to a panel of renowned industry judges and a live in-person audience at RSA Conference 2022 in San Francisco.
Since 2005, the RSAC Innovation Sandbox has served as a platform for the most promising young cybersecurity companies to showcase their groundbreaking technologies and compete for the title of “Most Innovative Startup.” The competition is widely recognized as a catapult for success and the top 10 finalists have collectively celebrated 69 acquisitions and received $9.8 billion in investments over the last 17 years. BastionZero will have three minutes to pitch the panel of judges before a question-and-answer round.
“While the cybersecurity industry contends with constant changes and challenges, these bold thinkers are the changemakers we need to protect the world against new threats,” said Linda Gray Martin Vice President, RSA Conference. “For the last 17 years, RSAC Innovation Sandbox Contest finalists have gone on to make a significant impact, and there’s no doubt that this year is any different. We’re cheering on this year's finalists to carry on the competition’s legacy with their game-changing ideas and I look forward to seeing the influence they make on the future.
Today’s security teams live with the nagging fear that any remote access pathway into their production infrastructure (servers, containers, clusters, databases, etc) could become the point of compromise for attackers. The conventional solution requires organizations to build their own remote access solutions, or to purchase a solution that relies on self-hosted jumpboxes or proxies. But there is a significant security and operational risk associated with managing homegrown or self-hosted solutions, because they are the first thing an adversary might target when seeking to compromise infrastructure.
BastionZero is turning the conventional self-hosted solutions on their head by offering remote access to infrastructure as an easy-to-use cloud service. The team has used cryptography to develop a multi-root zero-trust access protocol that offers remote access in a cloud service, without requiring the cloud service with privileged access to an organization’s infrastructure targets. In that way, if the cloud service is compromised, the infrastructure remains secure.
“Today, when it comes to remote access, zero trust doesn’t really mean “trust zero things”; it actually means “put all of your trust into your authentication system”. And what this does is create a highly-attractive single point of compromise that attackers can attack.” said CEO Sharon Goldberg. “At BastionZero we’ve eliminated this single point of compromise, allowing us to offer an easy-to-use, secure cloud service that reduces operational overhead and supply chain risk.”
The RSAC Innovation Sandbox Contest kicks off at 12:00 p.m. PT on June 6 and winners will be announced at 3:00 p.m. the same day. The panel of renowned expert judges includes Dorit Dor, Chief Product Officer at Check Point Software Technologies; Niloofar Howe, Sr. Operating Partner at Energy Impact Partners; Paul Kocher, Independent Researcher; Shlomo Kramer, Co-founder and CEO, Cato Networks; and Christopher Young, Executive Vice President of Business Development Strategy and Ventures at Microsoft. Hugh Thompson, Program Committee Chair of RSA Conference, will return to host the contest.

BastionZero is an easy-to-manage service that offers engineering teams zero-trust access to their infrastructure (servers, clusters, databases, etc). The platform autodiscovers your targets, automatically integrates with your SSO provider, and logs and monitors remote access by your users or their scripts. BastionZero’s novel cryptographic protocol design ensures that a compromise of your BastionZero cloud service won’t lead to a compromise of your infrastructure. Now you can confidently reduce operational and security risk by moving your infrastructure access function to a SaaS. For more information visit www.bastionzero.com.
